species of monkeys, turtles, birds, trees,
medicinal plants

Birds abound at Cocha Zapote
especially Great Egrets, Wattled Jacanas,
Hoatzin or shansho a prehistoric looking bird,
parrots, macaws and Camungo
•
Chance of observing caimans and nocturnal birds
along the ride

Day 8:Visiting
by paddle canoe
the Lake Yarina observing birds, monkeys,
turtle eggs in mating season (
June /November) The Paiche (Biggest freshwater
fish in the world) weighing in at up to 300
kilos and measuring some 3 meters used to leave
to take air

Otters live in the lake and are
often observed

Fishing and typical lunch at Atún Cocha

Crossing the Cocha Cushural, a
lagoon where in any season it’s possible to see
black and white lizards. Possibility of fishing
